An original signed, limited edition lithographic print by American artist Robert Marble b. 1946, best known for his depictions of the funny side of life in the high tech, fast moving world. Titled’Design for Safety’ this depicts a series of scenes in an Engineering (or similar) office which is manned by a variety of animals. Firstly a little dog like creature bursts through the doors on high powered jet propelled scooter much to the consternation of an elephant looking out from an adjoining office. Next a pig workds on a computer whilst behind him another animal is about to stress test a bomb shaped article marked’Caution Highly Explosive’. A nearby zebra watches in fear and a sign on the wall reads’Think before you Thump’. Next door a small rocket is being fired off and beyond that a very large animal is sitting on metal boxes to pressure test them, a binfull of rejects stands beside him. Much much more to see! Note the little red bird lower right which is a signature character of the artist’Richochet Redfeather, featuring in all of his works. Numbered 352 of an edition of 950 and signed in pencil by the artist lower left, dated 1988. Also a COA verso signed by the artist. In excellent condition and very well presented with a double card mount (pink below, blue above) within a shiny dark metal copper coloured metal frame. Both the mount and the frame are in excellent condition. Measures 26 x 98cm including the frame. Robert Marble grew up in Southern California and after majoring in Art he went on to work as an illustrator and Art Director. After some years he gave this up to pursue his dream to become a cartoonist and now works full time from his home studio in Newport Beach. He has become well known for his work is included in a number of public collections. Some of his comic characters have also been reproduced on gift items.
