This is a Hobo Designs Limited Hobo/Clown doll/figurine named “Crompton” – from Finchingfield, Essex, England! He measures 21″ in height, 13″ in width and 13 in depth. He is numbered 160 out of only 2500 created. He was handcrafted by Scott & Gill Harris in 2000 for Hobo Designs Ltd. And is signed by these two artists. Here is what Hobo Designs Ltd. Has to say about this whimsical hobo: Each individual piece is created with attention to fine detail rarely found in today’s world of global mass production. Crompton still has his tags attached, including the Certificate of Authenticity. His face and hands are painted white porcelain that has been glazed. His clothing is of exceptional quality: He is wearing a long, full overcoat with black cuffs, complete with safety pins and tears he IS a hobo, you know! Under his overcoat is a white shirt, checkered vest with buttons, a gold necktie and brown cuffed corduroy pants. He also has a jaunty black felt top hat and is carrying an umbrella – see photo #1 – because it rains a LOT in England! He has a long scarf wrapped around his neck, to keep out the chill! In one pocket of his overcoat there is a folded newspaper and a liquor bottle – see photo #6. His whimsical expression, and the way he is hunched over lets you know he is definitely a hobo but might be willing to work! Check out his crazy hair poking out from underneath his hat, and his tinted spectacles. Crompton is definitely a character! He weighs a hefty five pounds because of the quality that Hobo Designs infuses in all their creations. He is standing on a black, hardwood octagonal stand that measures 9″ x 6 1/2″ and has a metallic plaque that says Hobo. The stand is signed in two places: once with the artists’ signatures, and again with the name Crompton and the numbered edition 160/2500. The attached COA says Another Unique Creation from the studios of Hobo Designs Limited, Producing Limited Editions with Unlimited Appeal. Hand crafted in England, Hobo’s unique pieces are created exclusively with the collector in mind.
